How to save Google Messages text message?

I have some conversations in the Google Messages app that I'd like to save. Is it possible to save these conversations somehow?

You may even be able to simply copy/paste them onto a notes app.

Set it and forget it.
Easy retrieval also...

But it may depend on whether the messages are SMS or RCS "chats". Most if not all SMS backup apps can't back up RCS messages.

Now I don't know anyone who uses RCS, but the OP might.
