    You didn't say who your carrier is. Check out FoxFi in the google play store. That is what I use to tether to ipad. There is lots of information here on using Foxfi. foxfi for s4

    Do you literally mean physically tethered by a cable?

    If not (and doing this has been a giant pain in the bum on pretty much all the devices I have done it with), why not just use the wifi hotspot feature? It's easy to configure, means you don't have to faff around with a cable and is reliable.

    Is a cable more battery friendly than using wi-fi to tether? I've never done any actual testing, but that's been my impression.
