how to stop data roaming on hero

    can you guys give me simple procedures to make sure the data roaming is not allowed, i am going overseas and want to only make use of text and network for phoning! but i dont trust i wont end up with a massive bill :) so thanks in advance :)

    ps i need to do the same with desire so if its the same and you know, that would be cool thanks

    Use the HTC widget for that (on both phones)

    is that something i need to download or is already on phone? if so whats it called, thanks

    That's fairly straightforward:

    Settings -> Wireless controls -> Mobile network settings -> Untick 'Data roaming' if you don't wish to use it.

    Voila!

    ok i know about that, but i was getting the feeling from what i read online that it doesnt stop everything, somethings still operate in bckground and read about peopel coming home with 75quid a day bills! so just wanna make sure :)

    It's on both phones :
    On a home screen with a 1x1 free space - press the [+] "key" - chose Widget, Settings, Mobile

    (I have a Norwegian 2.1 Hero, so I do not know it that is the exact "names"...)

    Well I travel abroad quite a lot and I've never had any problems with unwanted data roaming. Stay cool :cool:
