I got notice that something was downloaded to update. I searched and found update from i to 12b can cause root problem. 1. Does anyone know how to delete the downloaded file? 2. How to stop this update download and notification? 3. In fact, any way to stop download and update notifications for all the apps. I just hate update if everything goes well. Thanks for any ideas. =============== UPDATE: This is to confirm that the following method works. [How-to] Disable OTA updates on Stock + Rooted ROMs FOTAKill.apk [How-to] Disable OTA updates on Stock + Rooted ROMs - xda-developers
I'm not sure if there is a way to stop it but root has been found in the last hour for the 12B update
This works...just download and install the APK...after awhile the notification goes away...Just to confirm
Works on the LG F6? Because that method is for the Samsung Galaxy S3. Can you confirm for the LG F6, please? And is there anything that you had to do different from the instructions? Like a different folder name to delete the file from, or anything else at all? THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I can verify that this does work on an LG Optimus F6. Just make sure to follow the instructions! Do not try installing it! It must be copied, as instructed. Read the other posts in linked to thread before trying it, if you're not sure. There's good advice there!
How can I copy the apk to /system/app? I tried using ES File Explorer with Root Explorer checked, and tried mounting /system over adb, and both times I get "permission denied". I would just update to the latest, but I don't think I can without it (soft)bricking since I have a custom kernel. That may not be the cause; all I know is when I tried OTA it got stuck in a recovery reboot. Also I want to be rooted, and though Trevor just said it's been found out how to reroot, I don't know where that information is.
I had a custom kernel installed also, so I updated to firmware 12b with the LG tool and everything went smoothly. I have the method I used to root 12b up on my website. The root method is hit or miss, it works for some and not for others. Here's another root method for 12b... http://androidforums.com/metropcs-o...t/841572-experimental-way-get-rooted-b12.html As always, nothing is guaranteed. Good luck!
