Hey guys, I know that people have been talking about BB, but is anyone going to purchase it online? I'm looking at EVPdiscount.com right now so that I can lock in my corporate discount immediately, but sites like Amazon.com and wirefly have phones for pretty cheap. Has anyone tried either of these sites for their phone purchases? How hard is it to get the corporate discount applied to your account if you purchase through one of these stores? Thanks guys! Switching over from ATT to Sprint! :)

I've worked with Wirefly before and they're fine.

Once you're signed upon Sprint, just contact Customer Care via e-mail or phone and they should be able to get your corp discount applied.

Go with whichever reputable vendor you feel gives you the best deal. Me? I got a guy named Guido who says he can hook me up for a case of beer. :p

Whoever has it first and in stock will get my money.

Haha. Yeah, I'm torn between getting it ASAP and getting it at a cheap price. I mean Amazon has the inc for $149 with no mail in rebates (correct me if I'm wrong), whereas the pre-orders were around $199 after $100 MIR. =/

Probably whoever has it first. Unless I can save $50+ ordering it from somewhere online who will have it to me a day or two later (I'm thinking Wirefly using Bing Cashback).

True, but I'm pretty sure there will be vendors who will have it cheaper than Sprint. Another concern of mine is if it's worth it to order directly through EVP to get my corporate discount applied immediately, instead of calling customer care and then having to wait 2-3 billing cycles.

My thoughts exactly, but I've never ordered a phone from a 3rd party like Wirefly before. Anything I should be worried about?

Not from what I've read. This is my first time ordering this way too. I'm sure its as simple as once you get the phone, you call in to activate it.

Whichever way will get it into my hands first. I am buying it without a plan so I will have to fork over the full amount, probably $600. I plan on selling my Hero (~150), 80 gig ipod (~80), got $100 from my girl to put towards it. I might have to sell part of my liver to make up the rest of it, but I might only be able to get enough for a cup of coffee considering how much my liver has been abused.

I hadn't considered that, but if I'm already an existing Sprint customer with a discount, would that get "reset" if I get it from BB or through a place like Wirefly?

I don't see why it wouldn't just stick, but I hadn't thought about it before.

Oh, and I'm really hoping if I get it through BB I can get some sort of price-match if I find it cheaper online through wirefly or amazon.

I'm not sure. I chatted w/ an EVP rep and he assured me that I would have to reapply the discount if I bought it elsewhere, and the discount would take 2-3 billing cycles to process. However, my situation was that I would be adding 2 lines to an individual plan.

I like BB for my phone purchases. No MIR and I get the phone at that moment.

Now there's a bloody genius if I ever saw one. A pee powered battery, where do I sign up? I have a relatively small blatter so I'm always "on the go".

I've never considered Amazon to buy a phone before. I buy a lot of stuff from there. Thing is, they currently don't offer a "phone upgrade" option for Sprint (from what I could see on the website), so it's not really an option for me when it comes to the EVO.

So, I'm almost positive I'll be getting it at Best Buy (since there's no MIR). Then again, if EVP or my corporate rep tell me they can order the phone for me prior to Best Buy, I may give my business to them (despite MIR).

    Inside your monitor.
Yeah, Amazon will only sell it to new Sprint customers. I'll probably buy it where ever it is in stock. I'll try BB and Radio Shack first though so I don't have to do the rebate. I hate those.

Yup. I know this won't apply to everybody, but I know it will for you in particular (for LA Radio Shack's). I went to the Radio Shack on Westwood Blvd. (South of Santa Monica, next to California Chicken Cafe) last night. When I asked the guy about the EVO, at first he thought I was talking about a different phone and told me that they had it at Fox Hills (Westfield Culver City). When I asked again, he said, "Oh, that's the new one. Yeah, we just had training on that. I don't have any details on it yet, though. No matter what, I know for sure we won't be getting that one when it comes out. The Fox Hills store gets all the new phones first." I'm not sure which BB I'll be going to yet. It's either WLA, Westwood, or Sherman Oaks.

my contract is up with att so i've got a few options. i'm probably going to get it from bestbuy though because i've got a $50 giftcard leftover from xmas i haven't used.

if amazon or newegg get it super cheap i might consider them as well though.
