    Howdy, I'm 69.
I have a son and daughter, and two granddaughters (my daughter's). My lover, consort, and best friend over 20 years is a pediatrician. I'm a poet.

Though, sometimes I had to cop out and teach . Also drove 18 wheeler, waiter, dishwasher, manager in book store, proofreader, copy editor, newspaper columnist, and other jobs for bread.

Those for money. My day job was is poet.

When I was a kid some of this tech today was science fiction. I keep looking around expect to see Buck Rogers.

    I use the technology selectively.

I mow my lawn with a push mower, see no need to use an electric or gas mower.

Most travel by bicycle, have Giant hybrid in NYC, a Raleigh Sturmey Archer 3 speed and Serotta Tourer in Huntsville.

I walk more than most folk, but dont like it. Too slow.
Cars too fast, and get a flat can't push or carry it to next town. Can't afford gas, and it smells bad.

I grind coffee beans with manual grinder. I wash dishes manually. I cook foods simply and from scratch. I'm too poor to pay for packaging.

Got my first Android, peeved because it doesn't have hardware FM radio. My old T-Mobile Tap did, and good sound even on speaker.Good features but not as flexible.

I rooted the myTouch Q by LG (LG-C800) yesterday, removed one app didn't need, not all I wanted to remove, which is one reason I'm here.

I unrooted it because unrooted phones are probably more secure.

It's faster now, a little more talk time.

Some apps I didn't remove I want to find out if they're removable safely.

Long winded here. More succinct in future.

Greetings st satin stain, welcome to Android Forums. Happy to have you as our newest member. :)

You have quite and interesting life there, and have done a lot in your time which is very impressive I must add especially that your a poet. We are glad you joined us and hope you find these forums to be fun as well as informative. Unrooted phones are more secure, do to the fact that root only apps need special permissions than regular apps do and thus, the amount of permission they need and if it was a bad app, could do more harm than if it wasn't rooted. We hope to see you more around the forums and if you ever need help or have questions please feel free to ask. Enjoy the forums. :)

    Thank you.

I did a search and didn't find an active group of myTouch Q (LG C800) users, but I suppose some other folk may be familiar with it.

You can look here T-Mobile MyTouch Q - Android Forums but it isn't a very active group. Is this a fairly new phone?

It was introduced by T-Mobile in beginning of October 2011, so that considered new?

I forgot to mention the app I removed; it was the preinstalled security app, Lookout. According to friends it is good, but its efficacy or not wasn't the reason. I have Webroot SecureAnywhere Complete; its license covers 3 computers and three mobile devices, phones and tablets - iOS and Android. Webroot is designed to work alongside other antiviruses and security programs, but no need for two realtime security apps. And Webroot is very good.

I'll ask in the myTouch Q for a list of preinstalled apps safe to remove.

My old LG myTouch Q took 2 minutes to turn on. The Samsung Galaxy S Blaze, less than 30 seconds.
