How's it going?

I should start by mentioning that I cannot afford a new phone, would love one of the Thunderbolts but I am on a free Vortex. I have had the phone for nearly a year and am getting fed up with the lag, I can only assume this is from the over abundance of stock applications that our friends at Corporate America feel we need to have preinstalled on our mobile devices. So I am trying to hop aboard the root train and see where that gets me.

So far I have been able to find the root for 2.2.2 thanks to a post here, Gingerbreak v1.2 which seems to have rooted my phone. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of the stock apps, any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks and I look forward to getting to know some of you.
