HTC Desire: can't change default ring tone

On my Desire I have changed my default incoming ringtone (in Settings> Sound & Display> Phone ringtone, click Ok) and when I go back in to settings the change has been saved, but for some reason when I receive a call I still only get the original impatient 'ringring' tone. The same happens even if I set the tone for a contact.

Has anyone else had this issue and know how to resolve it?

try setting it in settings > personalize > default ringtone

don't ask me what the difference is though.

Just to be sure... is it a custom ringtone as in an mp3 file that you are trying to use?
If yes, on the SD card the path should be media>>audio>>ringtones.

I have a problem with my HTC Desire, I downloaded a Family guy app that allows you to use it as notification tone but my phone will not let me change to that or any of the other factory set tones. It says it changed but when I get a message its the old tone. My gf has the same phone and can use the app no problem, how can I get it to change? Ive tried turning it on and off and taking it apart.

When i set the Peter Griffin soundboard quotes as notifications, they were only available to select as ringtones, not sms notifications. I could then though transfer them to the notifcation directory manually to be selected as a sms notification. Was fun for about 5 minutes.

i have the same problem.. even if i go to settings and change it it says it has changed but then i get a message and its the family guy quote again. i changed the memory card and it chose a random one off there.. killer queen by queen to be exact and plays the full song every time i get a text and i can't change it. its been back to the repair centre twice to get fixed for this problem and another (can't switch haptic feedback off) and both times it has came back with the same problems. i've had the phone for over 2 months but i've only used it for about 2 weeks all together as it has spent most time at the repair centre. i'm starting to wish i'd just got the iphone in the first place

Try downloading an ap called ringdroid it helps a lot and you can use it to chang and cut your tones its free
