Hi sorry I don't know if this is the correct section I should be posting on but today a water bottle leaked in my bag and the screen now has water in it. The phone was already turned on but the screen was black, so I took this to mean that it was off. So I pressed the power switch and nothing happened then a few minutes later the HTC symbol came up but the screen was pink, then it went black again! My husband said that I should not have touched it, but hey hindsight is a great thing. I now have the phone sat in a box of rice, as advised on the net to do so, to help it dry out.

I am just wondering if by the screen going pink, means it is fried? The water indicators are still white so I don't know if this makes any difference at all?

Any advice would be great thanks......

There are many possible reasons why the screen can go pink. However, that's not terribly important. Right now all you can do is wait a few days and see if you can turn the phone on. If not, you are done for.

Thanks. My hubby thinks I am pretty much done for as he says the screen shouldn't go pink. But I hope he is wrong and you are right.

The irony of it all is that I was only looking at waterproof covers the other day! :(

take the phone apart (i mean take the back off, take out the battery) and place it fully covered in dry rice.

    Then hope!

I will say, if the water indicators are still showing white then you have a great case for a replacement if it comes to that...least a better chance anyway..

the indicator on the battery is white.

On the phone itself though, it has two points one at the top and one at the bottom that says void in black writing on a white background....I am guessing that this is not good? Sorry I am so rubbish at this kind of thing.

ha ha yes sorry that's what i meant.

i've just had a quick look at the phone and it looks like all the water has gone out of the screen. DO you think I should leave it for another day just to make sure its completely dried out?

Best to be safe. If you can, may even be worth changing the rice, although im sure the water absorbed from the desire has been minimal, so no definite need for that

yea like Dan suggests, its always best to just leave it a day longer to be safe.

Phones and water are an odd combination - sometimes a phone won't work for weeks and then suddenly work again so who knows. I'm anxious to hear back about whether it has been fixed or not!
