I read that the HTC Desire HD ROM has been ported to the Verizon HTC Droid Incredible, and the Sprint HTC EVO 4G in this article: HTC Desire HD ROM ported to Droid Incredible, Desire (update: EVO 4G too) -- Engadget .

Do you think it is possible that the Sprint HTC Hero will ever see a version of this ROM or at least maybe some of the features extracted and added to another ROM that uses the Sense UI? Some of the new features look pretty slick. Obviously, when I ask this, I am talking about a custom ROM and not something from Sprint or HTC. I wanted to make that clear.

I really hope so, though the screen size difference makes getting a port unlikely.

They ported it to the Verizon Motorola Droid Incredible. I think that handset only sports a 3.7 inch screen. ;)

I would hope that it could be modified to fit our 3.2 inch screens. I would love to have the new features. :D

It has nothing to do with screen size , it is dependent on density and those phones are all HDPI where the hero is MDPI, not only that the heros can not handle roms of this size, ours is about 100 megs or so for the system partition where these have 250 or so of space to work with. We would have to strip them down to a point that they would be useless.

Hope that makes it easier to understand for everyone. We need the legend or aria to get 2.2 then a port would be possible.

Yeah, I sort of wondered if the internal space would be the limiting factor for the Sprint HTC Hero. Thanks for clearing that up, nfinitefx. ;)

I hope that we see an Android 2.2 ROM for the handsets you mentioned then. The features of the HTC Desire HD ROM seem too good to pass up. :)
