Root Htc desire root

After using kingroot, I got root and checked it to make sure and then all the sudden my phone reboots and I check it again and my phone is no longer rooted, can any one explains why

You have to fastboot flash boot customkernel.img then run kingroot

Yeah I already did that, I know for sure because I had the warning and had to reset my phone
