A weird thing happened in the early hours of this morning, my HTC desire turned itself on.

I always turn my phone off at night, but in the early hours of this morning I thought I heard my phone vibrate. I thought nothing more of it until I came to turn my phone on this morning and discovered it was already on and at the SIM Pin entry screen.

Has my phone gone crazy? Is there a legitimate reason why my phone might do this? I haven't changed any settings or downloaded any apps recently.

You shouldn't worry too much, it could've happened for a really weird reason, who knows. Worry when it happens again ;)

Umm, not to be offensive or anything, but are you sure you remembered to turn it off last night? ;)

Ive had my phone struggle with resources whilst shutting down. Stress on CPU caused it to go into a forced reboot whilst shutting down.

Maybe it hadn't fully shut down and a reboot was caused some time later, which is what you witnessed.

Interesting. Mine did the same thing the other night. Nothing like being woken at 2am by R2D2. Running Leedroid.

This happened to me the other morning as well....no idea if it is a regular occurrence as I never usually turn it off.

    Glos.
Interestingly this happened to me yesterday too.

I always turn my phone off at night and put it in my drawer. Yesterday morning at about 8am I took it out and noticed it was already on and the screen was locked. I checked the battery settings and it said the phone had been up for just under 2 hours, so there's no way it could have not shut down properly as I'd gone to bed about 11.30 the previous night and it had been on since 6am.

This may sound like a stupid question - I apologise if so, only got my phone last weekend and am new to Android and HTCs - but could the Google Sky Map app have caused this? I installed it the night before and one of the permissions said something about waking the phone up out of sleep mode.....would this have caused it to turn itself on?

All your phones are sleeper agents for apple.
