Help HTC Desire USB port not working after revolutionary

I had my HTC rooted and working fine using Alpharev S-OFF.

A couple days days I've decided to install revolutionary (revolutionary-0.4pre4.zip), loaded on a PC running windows.
Bad idea. After the initial install everything looked fine until I tried to connect to the PC using the USB cable. The PC (running windows) reported "A device has exceeded the power limits in the usb hub" and freezes. The HTC AC adapter won't charge it either. What I need is way of restoring/overriding what was done by Revolutionary, from SD card. Cannot use the PC/USB combination!!!
The HTC is working fine I just cannot charge it...

Any help will be appreciated.

I've not heard of this before, and am also puzzled by what you were doing: if you were already rooted and S-Off Revolutionary wouldn't give you anything you didn't already have.

At the worst, if this really is a software problem, an RUU will fix it. But it would be good to understand the problem. Can you tell us what type of phone (gsm, cdma, branding), what rom, what recovery and exactly what you did with Revolutionary?

A microsd card reader will be useful if we are to make software mods without usb.

You are sure that it was revolutionary that did this? I know that's a daft question but it's hard to see how, so I have to ask.
