HTC Dream G1 1.6 to 2.1 or 2.2?

Hi, please does anybody know if there is and update from 1.6 up to either 2.1 or 2.1 for this model please? if yes then any chance of instructions on how to do it please?? thanks

I have a friend running a Cyanogen 6 Froyo [2.2] ROM
But you lose Sense

Sense is the UI that HTC put over their phones:

If you want to use CM6, you will lose that, and your phone will use the vanilla Android UI:
