Root "HTC EVO 4G" Screen Freezes Going Into Recovery

When I try to go into recovery it goes to the "HTC EVO 4G" white screen and freezes. I did attempt to root my phone with Clockwork a long time ago, but after while I just uninstalled the apps through the phone. It left superuser permission still on it even after I wiped my phone to factory settings. And now if I try to go into recovery it freezes.

Any help, please?

what is your hboot? also do you have s-off? answer that first then we can see where we need to go from there.
