Help HTC Evo Gingerbread update question

I just got an HTC evo from cellular trendz, and i tryed to update it to the new upgrade but it says there is no updrage available. Im on V 2.2 right now?

Should i just root my phone to get it or is there another way around it?

What are you trying to update to? If you was to root the phone you should never ever accept and OTA. If you want ICS then the only way is to root it.
