Didn't HTC make themselves on making branded phones for other companies?

    There's this thing called "money".

It "may" have something to do with it... ;)

Considering HTC make mostly Android phones, and Facebook has never really bothered with the Facebook for Android app, I am neither looking forward to this or expecting it to be a success :/

Sorry to break up the party but Nokia make the best handsets, then Apple, then HTC.

Of course, you're probably unable to separate hardware from software so I kind of understand where you're coming from.

Well It was always mostly WinMo, but now I'd say they make nearly as many Android phones, if not an equal amount but Since HTC is an MS partner for Win MO, I would say its stretched to say they make mostly android phones.

    Ok.

Best hardware out there at the moment? N8 hands-down, no competition.

How about Apple? I guess that you could think that gorilla glass, sleek design (thinnest smartphone) and the highest resolution displays are better than creaking plastic battery covers that rarely sit flush after being prised off, camera lens covers that need removing/replacing, faded SLCD displays.....

Remember kiddies - just because you bought something doesn't make it the best thing available. Sorry.

Widehead, do everyone a favour and shut up for once.

As to the topic, I'm not convinced they've got the market quite right. Are the people who go for top end devices (Which the article stated they are intended to be, if I recall) really such heavy facebook users that they need a phone with THAT much integration of it? Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like they are missing the mark slightly.

Haven't personally tried the N8, so I can't comment on the hardware. The software looks horrible though.

Glass on both sides of the phone? Both of my parents have the iPhone 4, and both of the backs of them are scratched shitless. I have seen countless people break the glass on the iPhone - it's highly vunerable because there is no bezel protecting the glass. There are very few ways you can possibly drop that phone that will not make some impact on the glass.

Certainly, it's very nice to look at/hold.

The resolution is superb, yes. And I ****ing hate the PenTile layout. My Desire screen is way oversaturated:)() and the iPhone screen is way undersaturated:)(). The black levels on my AMOLED are very nice though...

Are you doing it right? The Desire battery cover is the best I've ever seen on any phone. It doesn't creak and takes 2 seconds to take off and 4 seconds to put back on. Much quicker than having to buy an obscure screwdriver that will void your warrantee...

    Agreed.

    Haven't heard of this...

This page is the third result... Either, it's a non issue, or an issue pertaining to all LCDs. The iPhone also has an LCD.

I didn't say it was the best thing available - in my opinion, it is a superb phone, naturally with some issues(camera lens cover, oversaturated screen).

I also note that you did not mention any issues that the iPhone has; the glass issue I mentioned earlier; the way I hold the phone, my pinky bridges the antenna and the signal drops 28dBm, frequently dropping from 3G to GPRS; the fact that I can not install my own applications without a jailbreak. I wouldn't mind jailbreaking, if it weren't for this.

    indeed.

you'd think that having such a "widehead" would stop him from sticking it so far up his own arse.

    apparently not.

    sorry but that's not "evidence".

the graph only tells me that iPhone 4 users are more accident prone than iPhone 3 users (no cheap jokes please).

it doesn't say anything about the build quality.....and it says even less about HTC launching Facebook branded phones.

What would you consider evidence of my statement?

It says more iPhone 4s break than iPhone 3GSs.

    And it wasn't supposed to.

    Check the full study.

Also note that it doesn't say anything about the glass on the back of the phone breaking.

show me a design flaw, a weak spot, a breakage pattern, anything.

all you have is a study guessing at ACCIDENTS.

and accidents, as they say, happen.

maybe the iPhone 4 owner sat on their phone, maybe they were so immersed in it's ease of use that they weren't looking where they were going and walked into a lamppost or maybe their dog ate it.

accidents say nothing, i repeat nothing, about the build quality.

and a final quote from the study:
