Help HTC Flashlite plugin

I guess there must be quite a lot of hidden HTC apps installed for certain purposes... I see a long list of them through the Application Manager that do not show up in the application list.

For example, there's an HTC Flashlite plugin. Sounds to me like some kind of widget to make the screen bright, to use as a flashlight. I've seen apps in the market for this kind of thing. But why not use one if it's already available? It doesn't appear to be... Does anybody know what it's used for? Perhaps something utilized by other HTC apps?

That's not Flash "LIGHT", but Flash "lite" as in Flash player, "Lite" version...:D

Exactly. It is the Lite version of Adobe Flash that our Sprint HTC Hero handsets have instead of the full Adobe Flash 10.1 that newer handsets get with Android 2.2. ;)

I believe we have Flash Lite 3.1. I heard there will be, or already is, a Flash Lite 4.0, that is supposed to be very close to full Flash 10.1, but I doubt we will ever see an update pushed to our handsets for it. :(

Ah, OK. Thanks guys. Heh, I should've spotted that. ;)

I'm planning to root my phone so I can put Froyo 2.2 on it... but I wonder if the processor can handle full flash OK. Hmmmm...

Meanwhile, I did download a "flashlight" app from AppBrain. Works really well, with simple single finger interface.

I would probably say no, it can not. CyanogenMod 6.1 does not have Full Flash support for the Sprint HTC Hero anyway, I think.

It does not even have Flash Lite installed as far as I know. I am not sure if that can be added later though.
