Okay, I got my Hero about 2 months ago, and the bluetooth worked fine with my Infiniti system, until they updated the Hero software, now it's almost useless, I can answer, interrupts the radio and all, but I can't hear anyone, and they can't hear me. Infiniti recommends this phone on their website, but I called and the guy told me the 2.1 software version was fine, but when the went to 2.2, it's not working with the system properly. HTC says they are aware of the problem, but have no fix yet, and forget Sprint, they don't have a clue either way!
Anyone else have bluetooth issues with this phone?

Having the same or similar problem with 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My brother has the verizon Eris (same phone dif carier) and I was able to pair his phone and it worked no problem. Mine will pair with the "Uconnect" system in the Jeep and sometimes work for 10 seconds sometimes 90 seconds but it always seems to drop the connection at some point. When this happens, the phone shows the call as being active still but does not play any sound or pick up my voice.

Man, this is the second phone that gave me issues, my last phone wasn't recommended by Infiniti though, (I thought Bluetooth, was Bluetooth then). Yes, exactly, the phone shows active, even on the Nav screen. I hope HTC can fix the issue, since according to them, they are aware of it! Geez....Does Microsoft run HTC? LOL......

Did you not know, when you have Bluetooth issues you are supposed to trade in your car, not your handset. Haha. :D

Okay, kidding aside, I heard somewhere the later updates to the stock Android 2.1 with Sense UI ROM do fix some of these Bluetooth connectivity issues. I suppose if all else fails, you could just root your Sprint HTC Hero and go with a custom ROM. ;)

LOL, that still wouldn't guarantee it from my experience! I find it funny it works fine with my Motorola H720......
    What do you mean "root"?

To root your handset means to give certain apps "superuser" access. In other words you can alter system files and whatnot and do more things with your Sprint HTC Hero, such as installing custom ROMs, removing bloatware, and running a tethering app, for example.

Unfortunately, our Sprint HTC Hero handsets will not officially get the Android 2.2 update. Thus, the only way to get Android 2.2, and by extension, Bluetooth voice dialing, is through flashing a custom ROM after rooting your handset.

I've been having the same problem. 1.5 worked perfect with Uconnect bluetooth, but the 2.1 upgrade caused all kinds of problems as all of you. What I did was a complete factory reset of the phone. It didn't reset it back to 1.5, but it did reset all settings including the bluetooth application. Please understand, this does wipeout all personal settings including all contacts and installed applications. Also, make sure you delete all phone pairings within your in-car bluetooth system. Now pair your phone with your bluetooth device. This worked perfectly for me.... Everything is functional including phonebook download and voice recognition. Let me know if being tried and how it went.
