HTC Hero Question

I am an HTC Hero user, just interested in finding some help with my phone. I did search the forums but not sure if it is already posted or not... After i unlock the screen, there is a little box that pops up onto the screen, then quickly disappears once you start an activity. Also, it shows up and stays on the screen when go into the menu for adding an app to the homescreen. HOW do i get rid of this? It wasn't there before and i am not really sure how it showed up?

It is a little cryptic to me. It is a black box in color, possibly ppl would use it as a banner or to put their name in it?... In my circumstance it has random text written in it. It pops up when you arrive at the main menu. So, if you unlock the phone (i am not using an unlock pattern), it pops up until you engage in an activity OR if you touch the "+" to add apps to the home screen, it shows up and stays at the bottom of the screen the entire time. Also, if you press the arrow to go back, even if you are merely using one of the other home screens (other than the "main menu" screen),the box will show up until an activity is engaged.

Sounds like the pop up box or "toast" as some apps like Handsent call it?

Not sure why it's sticking on though...

This is pretty strange I guess! Have you installed a lot of new apps. Can you remember what apps you installed before it happened that may have been the cause?

If you restart the phone does it still happen? Is your phone laggy at all?

Yes there are some new apps, however, i do not download any app that has any prompts that come up talking about acess to: network comm., system tools, etc...

Can't remember it happening after any specific app, it just showed up. Phone is not laggy at all, i did restart my phone and it seemed to disappear for now. It would be nice though to know how it happened, so that it doesn't happen again.

Does it look similar to the bar that you see when you pull down your notifications bar? I had a feeling it might just have been that bar that got caught with some laggyness half way down your screen or something like that.

No, does not look like that at all. It has happened once since and i merely restarted the phone. It is black in color and appears at the bottom of the screen. This time it happened just after i came back into the province I live in. It had the text "home" written inside the box. I believe it is an optional box that you can opt to have appear on the screen; just not sure how it showed up or how to edit the text within etc.

I think it might be the little box showing for example a text that the app is downloading or something when u install an app from market. I to had the box showing up a couple of times but dunno why its appearing.

It doesnt bother me at all by coming on screen sometimes for just a sec though
