Samsung does not have HTC sense over the top of Android, which is known to be immense, Samsung UI's tend to suck.. in my experience

The Hero is getting on a bit now and is running outdated software.

2009, August was release date in The Netherlands? Now I do realize that most people buy a new phone once a 2 years, but 7/8 months is quite extreme, is it not?

Would he advice against purchasing a 2nd hand HTC Hero at the moment? And in what ways do you consider it to be old?

Hero's only problem is a crappy processor but it doesn't bother me much (well it does when I need to type something fast and the keyboard freezes from time to time :p), brilliant wee device and it's getting 2.1 in this decade ;)

Interesting question ... I debated the same issue myself before plumping for the Hero. The Hero is a design classic ... superseded now, perhaps, by the Legend, Desire or Nexus One, but still a classic in it sown right.

Galaxy Spica? A good phone, I don't doubt, but not a classic design.
