I am in Southern California (Los Angeles area) and am fed up with AT&T. I haven't had a nice phone in 4 years. I still have the Razr V3i when it first came out and now I want to leave AT&T.

I'd like to get MOST of the features that Verizon has (talk, text, web, apps) minus the 3G but I'm starting the university so I need to minimize all my expenses and wouldn't be able to pay the $75 a month (lowest package available) for the HTC Incredible with 450 minutes, 250 texts, and the required data/web package. This is where MetroPCS comes in. They offer all that I mentioned for $50 a month. Their selection of phones isn't that great so I wanted to know if a flash exists for the HTC Incredible and what would the process be like for me to get this to work on MetroPCS? I ask this because the Incredible looks like a solid phone where I myself wouldn't have to worry about upgrading for years to come and the fact that the Droid 2/Shadow will be coming out soon so I'm hoping enough will be known about the Incredible (unless it is already possible to do) and any issues would be resolved by the time the "new" generation of phones come out.

I see the stores offer flashing for other phones so when this would be available on their website, would all I have to do is buy a new phone online, take it to them, pay the flash fee and pay the monthly plan fee?

I'm not too keen on flashing phones as I'm behind in this area but I do have experience flashing stuff like circuits, cd player firmware, modems, etc. Do I need any specific hardware for this? Please let me know I'd like to get more information about this and get caught up with cell phone technology in the process!

oh wow, this is such a late reply response....and technology is such velocity rapid fast! And i new to this Adroid forum site hahaa.. Incredible was released 2010 and it now 2012. well to only answer your question....
October 2011 I took a Android Incredible phone flash over to MetroPCS through a private guy found on Craigslist Sacramento, ca. I was charge $70 to flash and unlocked the phone to 3G and that was about it and have no effect on my family plan $30 i pay a month. (As you know when you flash a unMetroPCS phone, internet don't work.) He claim that Verizon have a security protective code unable him to rooted the incredible phone plus no one haven't hack into it yet, so my phone is unrooted S-ON and can't send picture text. Which obviously he not good enough to root or his guys not yet to master to do soo on the incredible!

Am not so sure the guys give ya the right info. i rooted the incredible myself using Unrevoked, and whenever i need to hboot, it say on the very top that is s-off (rooted). I actually got MPCS and i just finish re-programing the incredible with the MPCS network info. Hopefully when i call tomorrow to see if i can link it to my account it will work to the fullest. Ill let ya know.
