Help HTC magic not syncing contacts to google

Still running Android 1.5. When i save a contact on GMAIL, it will automatically save on my phone. However, when I save a contact on my phone, it doesn't automatically upload to GMAIL. When I save the contact to my phone, it only gives me an option to save to phone or to sim, but not to google. Even after saving to phone, i've forced a google sync but the new contact doesn't show on google
