    Hi everyone,

Could anybody advice about my HTC M8, it's unlocked/S-Off and stuck when booting.
It was locked under Vodafone and I have tried to make it work on any operator, but failed. Although I managed to unblock the bootloader and make it S-Off.

First, what happened for the phone to end up in this state? Sounds like you unlocked the bootloader, and did you flash TWRP custom recovery on the phone?

Yep,,I did unlock the bootloader and its S-Off. Now its working, it took me one night)) to find the correct OS and flash it. Although still under Vodafone (. Is there any way to make it carrier free? Have tried changing the CID - no result, did try the config.dat file on SD card- no result...
There has to be a free option in order to unblock him from this carrier.

Is vodafone a gsm or cdma carrier? If its a gsm carrier you need to sim unlock it. If cdma i cant help to much.

    Thanks @scary alien .

@consolenut ,for your consideration it's a gsm carrier . Could you suggest how to sim unlock it, cause I have tried something and didn't do very well. Starting with:
nr 1. the CID change to 1 x 8 no result
nr 2. config.dat file received over email with further copy to sd card and simlock from the bootloader - same result
    nr 3. your suggestion ?

I used htcsimunlock.com......it cost 12 bucks but well worth it. Youll need a sim from another carrier to get to where you can enter the code.

@Mike_M8 CID is separate from being sim-locked to Vodafone. The benefit of setting this to Super CID (a series of eight 1s) is that you can manually flash any firmware you like as long as it supports your hardware model variant, without having to do extra steps like editing the android_info.txt file in an firmware zip/update package. Since you have s-off then I'd just keep (or re-set if you changed it again) the SuperCID. As consolenut points out, you have a different requirement in that you need to unlock the phone from Vodafone's network. There are paid ways to unlock (never had to use them so can't vouch for any), but you can also get unlocked by going direct to Vodafone as they have a Network unlock request form online.

Thank you guys, I'm aware of paid unlock options on the market, I thought somebody knows some workaround for this. Regarding the official Vodafone net unlock form it's ok, but I bought this phone from the streets and not really sure it's a good idea to insert my contact details and IMEI there.

Did you get a chance to do an IMEI check on the phone before you bought it? If not plenty of sites have a free check eg http://www.imei.info/ and https://swappa.com/esn - so you can at least make sure the phone isn't blacklisted.

    That's a good point @saltire . Thanks a lot.
One more thing, regarding unlocking, how come when I insert a different carrier sim in the phone, it doesn't request me to enter NAC(lets say that I have one) for unlocking, just limited service and nothing else?Or there has to be done any operation for it.
