Has anyone been able to sync their device with Htc Sync? I want to put some music into my phone but it doesn't seem to connect when I open up the program. I tried different connection types charge only, htc sync, and disk drive none was able to connect. Do any of you have this problem?

I think I'm having the same problem, just not with Sync. When I try to use DoubleTwist, it doesn't recognize my phone. Even when I go to "connect to PC" then switch it to disk drive, it doesn't change. And I mean, nothing changes.

Happened to me on both my work laptop and home desktop but was resolved after I restarted the PCs and the Inspire. Also, make sure that HTCSync is open before you connect the Inspire.

Same problem for me. I think its because HTC Sync is trying to recognize the Inspire as the Desire HD, which isn't true. Even if you download Sync off of the HTC Inspire page on HTC's site, it still pops up a bubble in the corner of my screen that my Desire HD couldn't connect to HTC Sync or something like that. Oh well, I just copy my pictures, music, videos, etc... manually anyways, so I'm not phased by this. I only use HTC Sync for the ADB drivers to use SWM.

Thanks for the help! I turn it off and every time I reconnect it to my computer it turns the debugging right back on. Any suggestions? Grrr! lol!

I spent hours with HTC Tech Support and spoke with 4 different Reps. I followed all instructions I could find including disabling all firewall and antivirus programs.

My laptop PC is running Windows 7 64-bit and I am trying to sync with Outlook 2010 (I found out later that HTC Sync does not support this version of Outlook).

Call #1: Had me turn off USB debugging, remove battery, replace battery, try different USB ports.

Then on the PC, had me uninstall, reinstall HTC Sync software. He then ended the conversation telling me it's probably something on my computer and to call back if I still can't sync.

He also told me to check out the forums on the HTC web site (which I did before even calling) but all similar threads were either unanswered nor had the right answer. Still did not recognize my device.

Call #2: This one was very brief. Rep told me I did everything right except I was supposed to install HTC Sync software while my Inspire 4G was connected to the PC and ended the call so that I could try that.

Call #3: Above did not work so this rep told me to remove battery while phone was connected. He also told me that maybe with Outlook 2010 64-bit installed might be giving HTC Sync conflicts.

I told him I had another PC with Windows 7 32-bit and Outlook 2007 installed. He told me to sync with that PC and if it still doesn't work to call back.

Call #4: So far 2 different branded PCs, running Windows 7 32 and 64 bit, two different versions of Outlook did not work for me.

This was my last call. Still on my older PC with the 32 bit Windows 7 and Outlook 2007, Rep had me change cables, reset my phone to factory presets. Gave me a different URL to download HTC Sync package. Redownloaded the software and replaced the other one I downloaded (same file name). Uninstalled HTC Sync again.

Reinstalled and was told to plug the phone in as soon as the pop up message telling me to turn off firewalls (before the install started copying files to the computer). This did not work lol.

In fact, while the phone is plugged in, HTC Sync would not load on my PC. As soon as I unplug it, HTC Sync loads.

The Rep told me that they have done everything they could and suggested going to AT&T and swapping it out with another Inspire 4G.

End Result: I downloaded a trial of CompanionLink and DejaOffice and synced. I am not a sales rep for CL. All I can say is it did sync to Outlook 2010. I now have my contacts, tasks, notes, calendar on my Inspire and I am happy.

I am a bit reluctant of CL because of a review I read in the market that it crashed after a couple of weeks and deleted data. Not sure if that is true or not so we shall see. I also don't like the look of the calendar but it's better than not having my schedules available at all.

I hope this helped someone out there. HTC tech support for the most part was quite friendly and they did everything they could.

I told the last rep that there was a comment in a PC Mag review that this HTC Sync version does not support Inspire 4G and the rep told me that this article was not true. From my experience, I believe the article:
    HTC Inspire 4G (AT&T) Review & Rating | PCMag.com

"While the phone has a mode to sync locally with Outlook using HTC's free HTC Sync software, the current version of the software doesn't support this phone. "

I also have tried everything possible...I can't get the program to come up if the phone's plugged in...as soon as I unplug the phone it comes up. When I plug it back in sometimes it will say connected on the display of the phone for a second or two...then it changes to disconnected. The program on the computer has never said connected ever-just says no device connected.

Apparently this software isn't compatible with this particular model of phone. I love the phone but I'm very disappointed that HTC doesn't address this.

Oh-also I have debugging mode turned off but when I connect it to the computer with the software already running the debugging mode turns itsself on every time no matter what.

Had the same problems. This worked for me and hopefully works for everyone here... Installed HTCsync on my windows 7 (64-bit) laptop. Restarted both my laptop (via RESTART command) and my phone (Tapping RESTART and not POWER DOWN.) Then waited for laptop to boot and load all my crap. Then connected phone to USB cable via a USB 2.0 connection. (Some reason they still put a 1.0 on HP laptops.)

    FOR SOME REASON :
Windows decides to bypass certain installed "start-up" configurations if you shut down and turn back on rather than restarting

Well just like many others have tried with sync, called support= no support for 64x, uninstalled & reinstalled 3.0.511 (which i think it has the 64x usb driver thats needed) then reboot on pc and phone, virus, and wirewall off...Bla, bla, bla! Downloaded Companion Link for outlook Sync calendar and contacts on Android, iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry - CompanionLink for the pc,
then DejaOffice DejaOffice - Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Notes Apps for Android, iPhone, and iPad
on my Inspire followed the instructions, and after a couple of attempts it worked! Thanks for everyones input it helped!

That's great, Merdock...but what are we MAC users supposed to do? HTC Sync isn't compatible with Macs. I can't sync anything with my new HTC Inspire 4G. PLEASE SEND SUGGESTIONS for syncing contacts, iPhoto, iCal, and iTunes. Thanks!!!
