So, any way this might be ported over to the Eris? At least the Sense part of the ROM? I love Sense, and if I can get the fastboot and newer version of Sense on my Eris, I think it would be just great. Plus...that boot animation...lol :D

If not, I'll deal with the awesome Gingerbread theme I found on XDA.

i never really played with my stock eris,so i have no idea what sense is like or about. i immediately rooted it and have been trying different froyo roms.

just curious... what is it about sense that you like?

convince me to try one of the sense froyo roms :)

Well, for me, I like sense because it looks pretty, the widgets are pretty great (although these can be replaced with beautiful widgets for the most part), and the UI is easy to use. I keep trying to go to vanilla roms or themes and I just end up back at sense. However, there is a gingerbread theme I'm using right now that I love that works with froyo roms. The only way I can explain it is because its what I have been using since I got Android basically. I'm used to it. Its a very clean and finished UI. Just like people who haven't used it say vanilla is the better experience for Android phones.

The OP likes the new Sense on the Thunderbolt and hopes that it could be ported over to the eris by a developer.

    gotcha. makes sense. :)

i guess its all about what youre used to. ive used my droid 1 for a few months, wich is also pretty minimalistic. when i got the eris i thot stuff looked wierd and dint really give it a chance, lol. ive like nonsensikal and froshedyo vanilla because theyre more like what im used to.

that said... when the sense froyo roms come alittle further i prolly wiill them a shot. if for no other reason that i like tryin new roms,lol... maybe sense will grow on me :p

    downloading kaoslegendary v18

    edit:
well, none of the froyosense roms have enuff functionality to try and use as a daily driver for a daye or 2. :( the kaos legendary v19 link and been removed,so i tried v18. not quite there yet.

maybe ill give one of the 2.1 based roms a try... i looked at my friends evo,and incredible. i never realized how similar they were to the original eris as far as the widgets, lock screen, etc. now im curious :)

Well the Evo and the Incredible both run Sense UI, and both phones are made by HTC. So yes they are very similar; actually I don't think there are any differences between the three phones user interfaces lol

The only one that I can think of - the HTC Friendstream widget. And, of course, the higher res display.

Download xtrSense4.6.5 and you'll have the FriendStream widget, or xtrRCMix.

Hmm, been a long time since I've been on it I suppose. Oh well, I know for a fact that Tenzo's RCxtrMix or whatever its named does have it and it is just as smooth as xtrSense plus all of zach.xtr's hookups.

I thought I read that this phone has a 1Ghz snap dragon chip is this correct or is it a dual core? Is 1Ghz enough power to do everything this phone is capable of or will it cause it to slow down?

I have the original Droid which was a good phone but I have had many issues with it regarding e-mail, and it freezing often with me needing to reboot it often.

I assume this HTC is much faster than my current Droid?

Well I'm not an expert but I think the thunderbolt is a single core 1ghz.and the Motorola is a dual core (don't remember the name).

Will it be faster than your original Droid? Most definitely should be. As far as I have heard, its a single core processor, and I also believe its 1ghz. I don't know much about the Droid Bionic (the Motorola phone I believe bobcat was referring to).

Plus, the Thunderbolt will be using the newest version of Sense UI, which is supposedly more ironed out and smoother than the one on the Eris or Incredible.

the thunderbolt is indeed a single core 1ghz snapdragon. its basically verizons equivalent to the EVO. the droid bionic is currently the only verizon phone on the imediate horizon with a dual core processor.

the original droid is an awsome phone. ive had fun rooting my eris, but there is so much support for the original droid, and its processor is conservatively underclocked at the factory,so it is stable to overclock to 1200hz.

the cm7 roms are far more advanced than what we have here for the eris. running cm7 on my droid 1 clocked at 1000 hz its very snappy. i wont claim it to be just as good, but you might be surprised how nice and responsive an OCed droid 1 is running a nice stable basic custom rom :D

I'm a drifter.. here and there.
It also has 50 percent more RAM than the DX, 768MB total I believe. Makes a HUGE difference!. It also has the same processor as the MyTouch4G, which I think can be overclocked safely to 1.70Ghz+.

Screw the Bionic and its looked bootloader and its dual core. The Tegra 2 dual core benchmarked lower than the new single core snapdragon models.

And to the OP.. sorry.. Sense 2.0 wont ever be completely ported to the Eris. Maybe some ppl will attempt it, and make it LOOK like it, but it wont ever be real Sense 2.0 (which is made of thousands of files). Sorry...

i fixed it for you :p most phones(including the thunderbolt) come with a locked bootloader, wich is a situation that is easily fixed. the bionic, however(like the X and droid 2) will have an encrypted bootloader, wich means the bootloader is proteded by code, and a whole nother ball game

with the bootloader locked(wich is how it will stay if its encrypted, at least for a long time and not without ALOT of effort) root access can be gained,so root only apps can be used, some apps removed, wifi tether will work, and roms can be changed. however, you cannot change the kernel with a locked bootloader,so you are limited to the stock one, eliminating completely custom roms and kernels.

at any rate im with ya- ive discovered i like rooting and roming way to much to buy a phone with an encrypted bootloader. plus until android is really optimized to take advantage of the dual core processor, it wont really give you the feeling of much more speed or processing power.

thunderbolt has everything else-huge screen, front cam, good rear cam,4g capability, simultaneous data/voice... prolly one in my future as well :D

Lol thats just fine with me. I've had too much fun running an actual version of Gingerbread on my phone =P

I want the Thunderbolt though, really badly. I just wish I could afford it.

its not out yet... hopefully it will be the usual $199 with 2 year ocntract, tho i have heard speculations of the possibility of $249

i just picked myself up an incredible :D starting to like HTC phones,so the thunderbolt is a good possibility for me. i feel like i should use my upgrade and credit before they decide to take it away from me,lol
