Help Huawei Mercury dialer issue

I have been having an issue with my dialer lately. I hope someone has an answer. I am using the Android stock dialer on Huawei Mercury (m886).

The dialer works fine for placing a call but if I have to enter additional characters (such as when entering a phone extension) the dialer flashes.

That is - the whole dialer screen flashes. I can usually get the additional characters punched in by timing my input to the screen flash. But this is really really annoying and not always accurate!

Any help on this issue?

ps...it did not do this until I had to do a hard reset - its happened only after the hard reset.

Flashing like it goes to stand by mode and then you move/tilt it the screen appears?

Nooo...the screen just flashes like a mini blackout. It cannot be corrected by shaking or tilting the phone.
I dont have a way to video it or I would post an example.
