    I thought the x5 looked like a good, realistic fit for cricket. my guess is it will be 3g and they will have a more expensive one for 4g.

    I think you're right! Even though it will come with 2.2 and a 5 megapixel camera as well as other nicer features than the Ascend, it is still viewed by most as an entry level smart phone. LOL

    Will Huawei ever get the respect it deserves?

    Only if they start raising their prices and being sold by the big carriers. More expensive = higher quality, didn't you know?

    Awesome, I believe this phone is HSPA so it might be on Cricket's 4G network

    What thread was that video posted on? I want to watch it again now! Isn't it interesting how the day after they announce no froyo for ascend (even if they are backtracking on that a bit), they leak that a new phone is coming out with 2.2?

    Never mind on above post, I have been watching a lot of youtube videos about the x5 and I can't wait for it to come out. It's a sweet phone! 3.8 inch screen, 800mhz processor, 4 gig of internal memory, everyone says it has great build quality, nice rubberized back, and it is really thin. Unfortunately, engadget says the camera still sucks,(even though it's 5mp and has led flash). It is 3g according to one of the vids. Btw the u9000 is the x6 if they are correct. Anyway, it looks like we have a nice phone coming our way. I almost hope it doesn't come out too soon, though, cause I still want to get some more use from my ascend.

    Maybe somebody smarter than me could put up some links?

    LOL!!! I'm not smarter than you but I'll put up a few links anyway.

    The first one is a link to CNet video and review. Their reviews are always somewhat biased against Huawei it seems but....maybe they will get better with time. :)

    Here's a horrible youtube of it but at least you can see it better:

    At least this gives you an idea of what the IDEOS X5 and X6 look like.

    :)

    I just searched "huawei ideos x5" on the youtube app.(not the regular site) Theres a whole bunch of them on there. Engadget had it hands on in their studio and did a demo of the camera. They said it sucks, but it has to be an improvement. Overall, they liked the phone. How do I post links from my phone?

    Yes...it's all over the news today...coming from MWC (Mobile World Congress) which just began today.

    Huawei hasn't released too many details but they do claim the X3 is the world's slimmest smartphone with a 3.2 screen.

    Sounds wonderful! Looks awesome but I'm waiting for a video to post. LOL should have one soon I hope!

    :D

    Do you know if the X5 and X6 will have Gingerbread?

    They say that the X5 will come out with Froyo and may have a future upgrade to 2.3.

    I don't know about the X6 yet. It is their high end phone and may have 2.3.

    It hasn't been launched yet...

    :)

    Yes...I would love to have one of those...and I'm pretty sure that Cricket is going to have it.

    Don't know about MetroPCS but they seem to get similar stuff. :)

    I still like the x5. Not really wanting to go to a smaller screen. Has anybody else seen the engadget hands on video? It's pretty sweet.

    I feel pretty much the same way. The X3 sounds great until you see it only has a 3.2 screen. In fact, it is disappointing in that it doesn't even sound as high end as the ascend other than it comes with 2.2.

    The X5 does sound better but I like the more square look of the ascend rather than the curved top and bottom. Actually the X6 is the one that really turns me on and rings my bell! LOL

    But my what sharp corners it has.....

    oops! Just found this:

    Huawei Unveils Android Smartphone, Tablet | News & Opinion | PCMag.com

    Fresh from the MWC in Barcelong (2 hours ago):
    (Mobile World Congresss)
    BARCELONA—Huawei on Tuesday unveiled two Android-based devices, the Huawei Ideos X3 smartphone and the Ideos S7 Slim tablet.
    The company also announced a plug-and-link data card for mobile broadband and a new wireless modem with intelligent routing here at Mobile World Congress.
    The Ideos S7 Slim tablet includes a 7-inch capacitive touch screen with an 800-by-480 display. It supports 720p HD video, and includes 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options. There are also options for SMS and MSS, as well as 3G voice and video. It has a 3.2-megapixel camera.
    The Ideos S7 will run Android 2.2 at launch on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1-GHz processor.
    Huawei said the Ideos S7 Slim will debut globally in April. Pricing was not revealed.
    [IMG] [IMG] The Ideos X3, meanwhile, is an ultra-slim smartphone with a 3.2-inch capacitive HVGA curved touch screen; Huawei said it is the thinnest device in the 3.2-inch range on the market. Its front-facing camera is 3.2 megapixels, and the device will support up to 16GB. It has a Micro USB 2.0 port and 3.5mm jack, and support for 802.11b/g/n.
    It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and will be available in Japan via Softbank Mobile starting in March. It will expand to Europe, China, the Middle East, Russia, and Southeast Asia in mid-2011. Huawei said it will be priced below $200.
    The Huawei HiLink is a plug-and-link data card that connects to broadband on-the-go; Huawei said users can be hooked up to the Internet in as little as 15 seconds after plugging into the USB port. It will be available in Europe in the second quarter, priced between $100 and $150.
    Finally, the Huawei Mobile Wi-Fi Smart Pro is a wireless model that selects the best high-speed connection available. It supports iOS, Android, Windows, and Mac and provides up to four hours of surfing time. It will be released in select markets in the second quarter with an LTE version scheduled for the third quarter. It will be priced between $200 and $270.

    ~~~~~~~~~
    The X3 is going to come with 2.3 Gingerbread. That sheds an entirely different light on the phone. Hmmm....
    But it doesn't sound like it's going to come to the U.S. at all. I just wonder if Huawei totally put out with the shabby and unfair treatment they have been getting from the U.S. Government. If Obama quashes their California acquisition, based on recommendations from the Pentagon that Huawei poses a 'security threat' to the United States, then I wouldn't blame Huawei for pulling all their products from here.
    The sad thing is that there isn't another manufacture around who doesn't totally want to rip-off the consumer. Huawei is the first to offer us products at a fair and reasonable price.
    IMO that's why they want to get rid of them. So they can continue to charge these astronomically high and absurd prices for mobile phones, etc that are made dirt cheap.
    Yes...I am upset over the way Huawei is being treated. :(
    Probably not news, but the best buy ad in the sunday paper has the huawei ideos s7 tablet for $249 and a bundle with the virgin mobile mifi and $40 airtime card for $339. Sounds like a pretty good deal, as you basically get the mifi for $50
