Would it be terribly difficult for a novice (albeit smart and quick learning) such as i to take two of my favorite kernels such as plague extreme 2.2 and blitzkrieg 2.1 and basically fr
ankenstein them to create a kernel like plague only with extra governors like smoothass and smartass2, and have noop deadline cfq and sio schedulers thrown in the mix?

Difficult? Yes. You would have to basically build your own kernel. There is no such thing as combining 2 of them together. Doesn't work that way.

great start fuzzy. You did answer the question however like number 5...I need more input! Do i have to compile the kernel? can i do it on windows and if so what program would I need?

You would have to talk to a dev about building one. I have no clue about actually building them.

Superuser and I thought about building our own kernel but once I tore one apart to see what I was working with I said hell no.

I look at it this way. The people building kernels for us know what they are doing and are building something that is going to work great on our phone SO therefore there is nothing I can do better than they are already doing. My thoughts anyway

    Good luck

Lol at your reaction and true. If you don't build it right you could brick your phone

    Haha.

When you open up a kernel and see files that you've NEVER seen before.........................there's a problem. lol

no you cannot compile it in windows (directly anyhow, need a linux environment), yes you need to compile it AFTER adding said stuff and editing the needed files so they get compiled. ;)

And good news is, my new Plague kernel basically has all that, I would just need to toss smoothass in there.

and to finish the top portion of this answer, YES you can lol but like pg said not directly, there is a program called 'cygwin' which is used to create that linux 'environment', it's basically like installing a linux based terminal onto you system with certain packages.. im not smart enough to get into detail but once set up properly (which can be tricky) it is real easy to use, can extract the kernel and zimage or whatever its called, make your edits, then recompile and poof there you have it :D dsixda's kitchen makes this very easy as well (also requires cygwin for windows)

option b is to install a VM with linux OS and frankenstien it up, but somethings dont always work that way.. lol

I once extracted data off a hung windows xp hd by booting up with a linux live distro and moving the required data to my mp3 player before wiping that drive clean for a new install. ive never compiled a kernel but ....i aint skeered. ima super geek. but PG since you kinda hinted around why not go ahead and hook that up? We want a kernel that oc's to 5thz and a battery that lasts for eons. and id like it to accurately predict the next 20 superbowl winners too ;)
