I am lost on how to root my phone

I have managed to download the app Android Forums to my phone And I am At a pc with a usb. Can you please guide me through this?

I suggest you read as much as you can before you do anything. Follow all the links in the first post and understand what rooting is about. If you have doubts, register on the android forums and ask in the forum for your phone (before you do anything).

I'm not sure why the android forums app on your phone would help when rooting - you wont be able to use your phone during the rooting process.
