I am sorry I am sure this has been posted quite a few times before but I am new here so please forgive me.
Okay so right know I have a Iphone 3g, I have had an Iphone ever sense the original one came out awhile back, So I have had a Iphone for a little over 4 years now and it is time for me to get a new phone I was originally going to buy the Iphone 4, but then I just started looking around at other phone just out of curiosity; and I happened to stumble upon the Aria and it seems to be a really legit. So the time has come to make a decision between the Iphone 4 or the HTC Aria. I would rather have a Nexus one or a droid X, to bad they're not on AT&T.
I am very hesitant on choosing the Aria though because right now I am paying $35 a month for my Iphone with unlimited texting and data ect., my phone plan can be grandfathered into the Iphone 4 and if I choose the aria I will probably lose that.
I just want some opinions of people who have the HTC Aria; like what do you like about it what do you hate about it.... Just your personal experiences with the phone.
What would really help me out is someone who had an Iphone (better yet an Iphone 4) and switched to the Aria, and tell me why do you like it more than your iphone.
A couple of concerns/questions I have about the Aria:
1.) I have a Macbook pro and I am really big into my music, how hard would it be to put my music that is on my computer onto the Aria.
2.) same question as above but with my photo's
4.) Can you tether with the Aria?
5.) I have an aol email and it is important that I keep that email adress; I have allot of important documents that go to that email, does the aria support aol email?

Thank you so much in advance for your help I am new here and I do appreciate it.

I don't see why you would lose your unlimited data. If you purchases the phone and keep the same plan, everything should stay the same. BTW, I just purchased the Aria and am anxious to get it. I have done lots of research and it appears that most Aria owners are very happy with the phone.

I wouldn't lose that, I would only lose it for the Iphone because it is an Iphone service that no longer exists that is why it would be grandfathered into the Iphone 4.
I haven't been able to mess with a aria yet, I am also thinking about buying an Unlocked nexus one. But I am not completely sure I want to spend over $500 on a phone.

    1. Just copy and paste your music files to the SD card. I copied/pasted an itunes (AAC) files just to see if it would work, and it does. It automatically converts it to a m4a file. (I have a windows PC btw, not sure if that matters)
    2. Copy n' paste
    3. not sure about tethering
    4. You can use AOL accounts. I believe you can use any type of account for that matter.

I believe it has it, but it's a service you have to pay for from at&t. If you root the phone, you can get free tethering. I have a custom froyo Rom (based on the HTC gratia Rom) and it includes WiFi hotspot, which I assume is the same as tethering (please correct me if i'm wrong.)

I've had the aria since the first week of release and I am really satisfied with it. Best phone I have ever had.

On my Aria you can tether Internet, just plug in the USB and it gives you some options like Mount Disk Drive, Charge Only or Share Internet.

The Aria is my first smartphone, which I've had for two months, and I'm not a heavy user. I use it as a tool for work, primarily for email, some useful apps, the GPS occasionally. I wanted to have one device that would have the above along with my music, pictures, and documents for work. I use the native web browser which is very speedy.

Since I have nothing to compare it to, my opinion of the Aria is very high. I like the size and overall it is just very responsive and reliable. Luckily I don't use my phone to text or send many emails. My only problem with it is the small screen, but only becasue I fat-finger the keys a lot when I do use it for a search or a brief message. Otherwise it's perfectly OK.

I don't think HTC has provided sync for MAC yet. It does appear that there are third party sources that will allow you to sync to your computer.

I agree with a previous post, especially since the Aria comes with only a 2gb SD card. I got a 16gb card and a reader and put all of the music, pics, and other information I wanted on the card and then installed it in the phone.

I think the Android 2.2, which is rumored to be coming soon, allows tethering, although again, I think there are other means to do this, probably free. A little research will confirm this.

I have had an Earthlink account for years which I don't want to give up. Once I had my phone, I created a gmail account and I forward everything from my Earthlink account right to the gmail and then to my phone. Very simple and it also provides a great place to archive.

Okay so I have decided to get the..... Aria! It seems like it would be a nice little phone to have. I mean I love my Iphone and always have but I think it is time for some change. I have been watching just about every review video I could find, I think I read just about every review on At&t's website; and I have read all the posts on here. Thank you so much for your help! I plan on buying my aria in the next few days probably on Monday. Once I get it I will post on here what I think about it; hopefully I love it. I might also sell my 3g and buy a unlocked nexus one down the road.... not sure about that though.
Thank you again for all your help guys, So it looks like I will be joining the Android family soon.
