Twas a year ago I basically bought my first android. It was $120 and I learned to unroot it, remove all the malware ATT put on it. The beauty of the bravo was that iwas simple, long battery life, kind of like a blackberry version of the Droid. Easy to root, easy to backup. The problem is I kind of want more out of my phone now. The biggest thing is my phone is kind of slow and things like google map or GPS in general, when I need it for travel or walking around in NYC really really slows down my phone and kills its battery. To top it off it just fits so well into your pocket. Not too big or small.

I was looking for a new a phone in the $<200 range, without contract, used is no problem and I was wondering which phone these days offers that right cominbation of speed, battery, and affordability.

Carrier is ATT on a family plan with no contract

The galaxy s2 is too expensive. I was looking at the Atrix 2 but it seems difficult to unroot. So I am kind of in the loop again.

    Recommendations anyone?

If you are looking to buy a phone without a contract it will be hard to find a new phone under $200. The Atrix 2 you are looking at is over $400 without a contract.

If you want to stay under $200 you may want to look in the Classified section here and see if someone is selling a used phone that interests you.

honestly Im less worried about price. I actually know a good friend of mine who wants to get rid of his atrix 2 for 180, but again I'm just collecting recommendations at this point

You could also check out used HTC Inspires. They're in your price range, have great developer support and are a pretty good phone for the price.
