I tried numerous times to sign out of google talk but without success. I was on the phone with an HTC rep for about 45min and was finally told I would've to sign out of gmail/market if I didn't want to stay log into gt. I would then have to sign in each time into gmail, etc. Needless to say, but this is inconvenient.

Is there away to log out of gt without doing the above steps

What does your MENU > More > Settings Screen show for the tickbox Automatically sign in?

I assume your using the Menu > More > Sign out option to try and sign out?

All I can offer at this point then is a hard reset but that wouldn't mean you lose all your settings and data. Have you pulled out your battery for 10 min and then restarted the phone ?

Even the HTC rep. couldn't sign out of gt without doing the steps I mentioned. I took the battery out for about 20min and restarted the phone already which didn't fix the problem. So, an hard reset will probably solve the problem? Thanks for your replies.

Before you do the hard reset.

Why is it that you want log out of google talk so badly?

I do not think you will gain much if any battery from signing out of Gtalk. This is my opinion but I believe it would be a popular one.

Are you really serious?

IDK about you, but I hate it when my friends get hurt feelings and think I'm ignoring them because my phone is on but I can't actually chat and don't even realise talk is turned on. This happens constantly when I am using the phone for navigation, get to the place I was going and stick the phone in my pocket or purse to go about my business.

hi
for logout from googletalk or add another account do this steps:
go to setting
select acount&sync
and there you can see youre current account and some options for add or delete accounts.

Hey I want to bring this thread back. I very badly want to sign out of gtalk and can't. I'm running a Galaxy S II skyrocket with android 2.3.5.

The reason i want to log out so badly because i use two gmail accounts. One for just chatting and casual stuff and one for serious email and contacts etc. When I first set up my phone i signed up with the serious account (this is the one that got associated with my chat) and now i cant log out to use my other gmail account on gchat.

This is apparently an ongoing issue if u look on google forums. I tried being cleaver and changing my PW on my computer in hopes it would prompt me to re-enter my username and pw. This happened on my gmail but still didnt happen on gchat! somehow.... it was able to sign on even though i changed my pw.

My last thought is that somewhere in the system files there is a place with the logon username for gchat stored and i might be able to edit this. Does anybody know if such a file exists?

Also, can somebody please recommend a program that i can use to see all these hidden system files?

Thanks,

CD

Hello all,

I am bumping this up again. I am having the same issues.
I have 2 gmail accounts set up on my phone - work and personal. When I go to Google Talk, it automatically logs me into my personal account and not my work account. I need Google Talk under my work account. I click sign out, and it signs out of the entire app and when I tap the app again, it automatically signs me back into my personal account. I then changed the settings so it would not automatically log me in and it still does it anyways. How do I log in to another gmail account on Google Talk on my android Samsung Galaxy Prevail? Thanks!:captain:
