Do you have data roaming turned on? On my phone, it is turned off, so if I go across the border, I don't incur roaming charges. I have to actually turn it on before I can use data while roaming.

StraightTalk is an MVNO. I don't think it includes roaming, I was wondering if there were any Canadian carriers that offered short term data plans (like by the day/week)

I use an HTC One, but I don't think that matters because it's just a matter of carriers.
