I did a search and could not find a reference to this, however my search terms may have been wrong.

While I am on a call, my phones goes into sleep mode. I am still on the call but the phone will not respond. I tap the screen and nothing happens. I hit the wake up hard button and it wakes up but then hangs up. This is a real issue for me as I often make calls where I have to input numbers to navigate a menu system or put in ticket numbers etc...

Anyone else have this issue and is there a fix for it?

My phone is set to sleep after 2 minutes but on a call it will go to sleep after 15 seconds or so.

Factory reset? Usually fixes my problems.
  3. There is a good chance that the proximity sensor on your device is not functioning as it should. It is located just to the left of the speaker at the top/left; it appears as a small dot under the glass.

It's job is to detect when the phone is near your face so that it can disable the screen preventing accidental presses of icons or soft buttons while you're in a call.

The most common cause of proximity sensor malfunction is sweat, grease, debris or dirt in that area. Clean it well with a soft cloth to see if that remedies the problem. If it does, do as most users do and keep the area clean several times per day.

If the problem persists even though you've cleaned it, it may be time for a factory data reset.

If that has no effect on the problem, your device may be defective and in need of replacement.

Or its slow to respond due to the known lag issues with the Eris.

Try a software reset and try removing the weather widget from the home screen and see if it helps.

If you hit the end call hardware button once, it should wake the phone up from a sleep state.
