SO last month I bought an LG optimus one
    [IMG]

Reason why I bought it was cause I thought to myself I just need a phone to text from and make calls and all that. But they offered me this. So i used it for a few weeks and became so attached to android, but now that I actually know that there are SO much better phones like this I really want to change phones. Only thing though now it's gonna cost me a fortune to cancel the contract i just got.

Anyway does anyone know where to buy phones for cheap? Like a site that will sell HTC desire HD? Or anything like that, you know the really cool looking phones these days.

Man I didnt think i'd get so attached to android but now I love it, but just want something more powerful...

I wonder if there's a way to totally cancel my plan without paying...

    what carrier are you on?
some carriers give you 30days to test drive and cancel with no cost.

there are websites that let you swap with others that will take over your contract.

sell the phone on craigslist to help you pay for your eft

Only way I know of doing this is by moving out of the country. They will cancel your service and let you out of your contract if you do this. So maybe go on down there and tell they you're moving to Canada or something see if they go for it. Sorta doubt it, but hey...

Just remember not to resign with them if they do let you out of your contract though. That would look aweful silly! But yeah those contracts are pretty iron clad. That's the whole reason you have a 30 day window (except for Verizon, they just shortened theirs to 15 days) to try out a phone/service. Have you gone past that 30 day window I take it?

It sounds like you better stick with those companies that don't make you sign a contract then. Because every 6 months there will be a new flood of 'better' devices on the market. So if it makes you this panicky, don't ever lock yourself into anything... EVER!!!

I don't completely understand how this US carrier nonsense works, but where I live, if you buy a phone on contract, you can just sell the old phone, buy a new one and put your old sim card in the new phone. Sure, you still have to pay every month for the old phone you don't own anymore, but there's no reason why you can't do this.

You can put any phone you wish on a Verizon plan. *228 and it's done. I've had to use old phones a few times due to breaking one here and there.
You can take someone else's phone on a trip if you wish.

Don't know what Telus is, but it sounds kinda rigid.

Even with the same carrier, you should be able to return the phone and "upgrade" your contract. Most of the time, if you want a more expensive phone or more expensive plan, the carriers will meet your demands (depends also on the level of competition in your country).

Same thing happened to me with the lg shine plus. I've had it now since september and i can't complain about it at all but I'm getting high end htc envy. It didn't help that after getting this i talked my friend into getting an htc desire then my sister a galaxy s vibrant for xmas. The i got my gf a desire for her birthday. Now I'm surrounded by better phones. I really don't need a better one this one does everything i need just fine and has the best keyboard but I'm getting obsessed over the idea of a better one and its out of my price range.

You can do it in the US as well. However, most US citizens are spoiled by the subsidy, so the mere thought of paying full price for a phone mid-contract is just a foreign concept.
