I do not hear any sound now when I make phone calls

    Hello,

    I have a Nokia 3.1 Android phone running Android 9. My phone was working fine, but now when I make phone calls, I do not hear any sound. But when I plug in my earbuds, I hear sound clearly.
    Do I need to get a new phone?

    You might check to make certain the speaker is functional. Perhaps playing some music or a youtube video/audio as a test.
    Make certain that the speaker is clean might be worthwhile. Volume turned up naturally. It's not likely a software problem with the audio playing through your buds.

    Somebody told me to blow some compressed air into the earpiece to try and remove any junk that had built up, and see what happens. Well I just happened have an old can Blow Off Duster laying around, that I haven't used in years. So I blew the compress air into the earpiece hole, and guess what? The sound works fine now !

    I'm not surprised here. I had a problem with ram failure on my laptop so I opened it and saw a cat hair causing a short between 2 ram slot leads. Removing the hair fixed it. You probably had some dust causing a short.

    The first thing Monday morning, I was gonna go and buy a new phone. This is a procedure that I will always remember.
