Sorry for the caps...but I DO NOT want my damn phone syncing with GMAIL. Can someone please tell me how to make SURE it doesn't happen? I spent 2 hours TYPING IN all my contacts into the phone yesterday (yes...stupid..but that's what I needed to do) and now GMAIL has linked and overwritten most of them.

Please tell me what to do so that GMAIL DOES NOT sync with my EVO.

    Thank you VERY much.

Just delete your gmail account from the sync settings.

Thank you...but won't that erase my google account from the phone. I need it for other things....but don't want the sync.

I found an answer in another forum, that says "Only allow contacts with phone numbers", so I *think* that might be the answer.

    Can I get an AMEN?

When you spent all that time typing in your contacts, why not type them into Google and clean up your Google Contacts?

Getting those nice and clean will make your life easier for this phone and future phones. So whether you move from this phone to another Android, or iPhone, or something else —*or even on your Mac (PC prob works?) — I keep one system of contacts that all sync up with each other.

So I add a contact on my machine — and it synchs into my Google Contacts, which will then me be added right to the phone —*and that process works backwards too.

Just seems like a good idea. Hope you get it figured out :)

Settings | Accounts & Sync | choose account | uncheck "Sync Contacts"

Seriously, your histrionic post title is annoying and unnecessary.

Thanks...I don't want ALL My contact info floating in cyberspace....I would rather keep all my friends and relatives home, work and cell phones, along with all of their emails on my phone only...and not tied to a "google account". I am sure that it is very safe and encrypted...but still....If I don't NEED to have all that info tied to my gmail account...I would prefer it to be on my phone.

And Berner...why did you even bother posting. No one really cares what you think dude. Post HELPFUL suggestions....not your moronic ramblings.
