Forget nasty universal car mounts, this one is made by Kensington for the iPhone but fits an Evo. Proof: YouTube - Kensington iPhone Car Windshield/Vent Mount, HTC EVO 4G Approved! (this is not my video, so all credit to this guy)

It comes with both a suction and a vent mount. I searched the model number (K39210US) here and nothing came up, so I figured I'd share. I bought a cheapo mount on eBay that will be here in a few days, but this looks much nicer.

    $14.99 shipped at Amazon.

nice, i've been looking for something like this forever. it's such a simple design that works well with everything, grabbing claws instead of made to fit claws.

Ordered one too. I use a Best Buy "Rocketfish" silicone case on my EVO and so I'm crossing my fingers that it'll still fit.

Worse case, I have to take the case off while I use it in the car. If I'm going to use this it's going to be on trips anyway.

Thanks OP for the heads up! :D

The part that actually holds the phone looks great. Unfortunately I've never been a fan of the flexible arms. No matter how stiff they make them, they always vibrate and bounce when your driving which makes it much less desirable for navigation.

Looks pretty sweet. I think I'll be ordering one soon, and then commenting in the reviews that it works with a real phone, too. lol

According to the comments, it does not work with a rubber type case...

Not sure what comments you might be referring to but I just got mine from Amazon today and I'm very happy with the fit with the Best Buy Rocketfish Silicone case that I've got on mine. As you can see from the photo the phone and case will fit between the jaws nicely and there appears to be plenty of friction to keep it in place. On the Best Buy case there's a mold seam that will also insure that the case doesn't slide forward out of the jaws. I'm headed out to see how well the vent clamp works on my car but wanted to give you guys an update.

Though I do have to say that it fits as though it was actually made for the EVO if you put it in the holder "naked"!

Update: Some additional information and photos.

In the package you get a sticker that has a url to Kensingtons web site where you can see a short video of the different models and how they work. This is the youtube link to this model http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geoq8fDHMVM&feature=player_embedded

Also here's a couple of additional photos of the vent mount. I've never used a vent mount and so I didn't know what to really expect. It attaches securely but flexes because of the design. I think that it'll be OK though. Now I can get rid of my old car GPS!
