Root I have questions abt rooting my samsung glaxy y through pc/cp. Btw i know nothing abt these things

I've seen videos on youtube on how to root samsung galaxy y and it i think it is easy but not safe. My questions are can you guys suggest on how to root my phone easily and yet safely.
What to do before rooting?
What if i fail?
What are the consequences?
And lastly what applications should i install/download to increase my battery life and make my phone faster aside from rooting? THANKS in advance Btw i need it as soon as possible. Hehehe

BTW i'm not familiar with things about my phone i mean the firmware blah blah. Well i want to make my phone better and to delete the apps like latitude, places, and etc cause i don't need those apps. THANKS

why dont you root your device by itself? using the recovery screen and a rooting apk?

you forgot to ask questions like:

how effective is it with my goals (improve batt life, faster speed)?
will i have official update problems after rooting?
will i have unmounted memory card problems?
will it void the warranty?
etc. etc.

anyways you can always unroot, study the guides in this forum, ask forumers. nothing cant be learned.

damn, i still am freaking happy w my SGY. my phone's is still unrooted. im satisfied w my apps, esp the emulated games. i still do treat my phone as a phone, i have my pc to do d heavy hard stuff...

rooting is putting ur cp beyond its limit..don't root the phone if you are "NETWORK LOCK"

REQUIREMENTS
"UPDATE.ZIP" FILE
DOWNLOAD THE ATTACHED FILE..


STEPS'
1.COPY THE "UPDATE.ZIP" FILE DIRECTLY ON YOUR SD CARD(NOT IN ANY FOLDER)
2.TURN OFF YOUR PHONE(WAIT TIL VIBRATE ENDS)
3.GO TO RECOVERY MODE(PRESS THE VOLUME UP KEY BUTTON,HOME KEY AND THE POWER BUTTON KEY SIMULTANEOUSLY)
4.RELEASE THE KEYS IF YOU SEE THE SAMSUNG LOGO
5.SELECT "APPLY UPDATE FROM SD CARD"
6.CHOOSE THE "UPDATE.ZIP" FILE
7.IF YOU SEE "INSTALLATION COMPLETE"
8.SELECT REBOOT SYSTEM NOW.

AFTER BOOTING YOU'LL NOTICE THAT THERE IS A APPLICATION NAMED "SUPER USER"

THATS IT..CONGRATZ!

try to have custom firmware and kernel!!!
