I just bought my Ascend... now what?

I keep reading about people "rooting" what is this, why should I do it and HOW do I do it??

Also, please help me (in easy language) change the keyboard and delete some of the standard "widgets" within my Ascend.

    Thank you!!

I suggest to learn the phone first, and get familiar with everything before you start modding it.

read around a bit, as suggested.

    as for the keyboard...

    menu button,
    settings,
    language and keyboards,
you can view your keyboards and choose one there.

if you havent downloaded any new ones simply hold your finger within the texting field until a menu screen appears and select "input method"
you can now choose "swype" or "android keyboard".

Only thing I'm going to really input here is that I don't see that it's necessary to delete any of the standard widgets. If you are not using them on any of your home screens, I don't think they are doing any harm to your speed/ram (I think) or anything. I also think most of the widgets are actually small, So removing them won't give you much space. ^^. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong anyone. :)
