Help I just shattered the screen on my X! What options do I have?

One of my cats just knocked my X off of the dining room table, and the screen shattered when it hit the floor. I'm 10 months in to a 2 year contract, and I didn't get the insurance. Any idea what options I am going to have at this point?

....first step is to slap yourself 5 times for not getting the insurance.

second , google "replacing a cracked screen on droidx" There may even be a youtube video showing how to replace it yourself as well as finding some links to where you can buy the screen. If not...then hit ebay to buy you a new phone.

3. Gorilla glue (might be the best, since the screen is made from Gorilla Glass)

That sucks man, do you have ceramic tile floors or something? I've accidentally flung my DX without a case or screen protector right onto the concret patio and it didn't even scratch the thing.

I have some good news. Asurion has open enrollment for insurance thru 4-28 so you can call in or go online and add it to your account just like if you had just bought the phone. Give it a day, then call in and make your claim. Viola!

Just sign up for the insurance. Use Squaretrade if you can't do it through Verizon. Then put the claim in. I'd wait a few, though.

I never pay for insurance anymore.
Last time I was on that they wound up with a class action for ripping people off.
Got an otter box.
Can fix almost everything.
Look in the classifieds. Someone is probably selling one at cost of what the insurance and deductable would of cost you over time and the replacement from them was probably refurb anyway.

Insurance is a "house bet". Meaning the best outcome for the person that is paying insurance is that you won't need to spend any money to get your phone fixed or replace..that is the best outcome. The worst outcome is that you have paid insurance for how ever long (essentially gambling that you will need it) and then have your claim denied.

With so much fine print with cell phone insurance your chances of getting a claim accepted versus rejected is about 50/50 these days, which is not enough of a margin to make gambling on insurance a worthwhile venture, imo.

It sucks, but if you think about the money you have saved by not paying insurance should easily cover the expense of a new phone.

Thanks for this information. I ended up ordering replacement parts off of the internet yesterday. So, I'll deal with it as is for a couple days and try to fix it on my own.
