My thoughts after spending 30 minutes with the phone:

    Pros:
    - Beautiful phone with good build-quality
    - 4" form factor fits in my hand like a glove
    - Fast and snappy
    - Motoblur didn't seem as bad as people make it out to be

    Meh...:
    - Photos looked washed out

    Cons:
    - What 4G?
    - I live in Greater Los Angeles, which has a gold dot on the AT&T 4G map as having full 4G with the backhaul enabled. And according to Speedtest.net, I got the following numbers with the H+ showing on the display:

    Down: 2.19
    Up: 0.25
    Ping: 896

For comparison, the 4G Inspire that was close to the Atrix got 1.35 down, 0.25 up, and 465 ping.

    Conclusion:
Appears to be an awesome phone that's wasted on AT&T's fake 4G network! It's certainly possible that I was somehow in an AT&T 4G coverage hole. But it was inside the AT&T store and the CSRs never said anything about not having 4G coverage.

    Amazing I Tell Ya!

I'm sitting at home and just ran a speed test using Xtremelabs Speed test downloaded from the Android Market Place:

    Download Speed 2.197

    Upload: .855

The same as my iPhone 4

Eventually AT&T will have the infrastructure in place and the speed should increase to what they are advertising!

Marc - As I said in my original post, according to AT&T's 4G map, there's a gold dot for the Greater Los Angeles area. So the backhaul seems to be in place. But the speeds are not.

But the real question is this: If I buy the phone now, in 30 days I'll be locked in to a 2-year contract. What if this is all AT&T "4G" speeds are ever going to be? We have no proof otherwise. I'd love to buy this phone! But $2,000 or so over 2 years is LOT of money for me to be taking a chance on AT&T delivering the true 4G goods.

if you click on the gold dot you'll see it's not all of greater LA. BTW I'm in memphis, on my inspire i get 2.9 down 300k up.

anyone including marc (probably) will tell you to go network first, then phone. if you're unhappy with att's coverage it would be silly to buy a phone for the specs. a dual core won't help you make a phone call or download something any faster.

ATT might finish all the backhuals so that HSPA+ is actually faster than their 3G. When? Nobody knows.

What we do know is that ATT is then installing LTE later this year and this phone will not work on LTE.

shame, and this phone has such a nice battery to handle LTE 4g too.... well with more people on LTE 4g i guess our HPSA+ will be much faster?
