I have been thinking about removing all of my apps prior to receiving the update, but based on some of the comments about factory reset, what are the suggestions out there?

nevermind. i found it. did the reset and it fixed all of my ICS issues...although, light flow seems to be partially broken under ICS. lame.

Mine came down last night. As all have said during the laoding apps the circle no longer turns leading you to believe it is frozen. Mine went almost 30 minutes and I too was getting ready to force restart, then decided I should leave well enough alone. Few minutes later it did finish! It just takes forever and gives no indication it's still running other than getting hot.

On restart it chocked on some old widgets in gingerbread, coughed them up and out. Did reboot, and no more issues other than ICS resetting favorites, losing a few pictures, and some factory defaults reset.

I also had it "freeze" and so rebooted during the updating apps phase. Probably I just got impatient. I had all sorts of weird app closure issues: Facebook, QuickPic. Also massive battery drain and a hot phone.

We'll see if the hard reset I'm doing now will help.

Mine froze during the update after the reboot at "starting applications". The loading ring stopped moving and after 10 minutes or so I forced a reset. Fortunately, I didn't have a single problem after that and ICS is running smooth as silk for me without a factory reset. Battery's been about the same in somewhat limited use.
