    Welcome to the Android Forums!

Digital copies are frequently DRM protected Windows media files that may or may not be compatible with the video player on your phone. Typically, in order to play them, you can either try to find a video player that's compatible with your phone and with the digital copy... or you can convert the file into a MP4 format that's compatible with your phone.

Basically you need to check on the file format. It might be as simple as going to the market and downloading a player than can play the file or it might be a DRM (licensing) issue as stated above.

What type of file is it and what make/model/carrier of phone? Do you know version of Android you're using?
