Earlier this evening I spent an hour and a half on the phone to Orange who eventually fixed the problem I was having with MMS but in doing so a problem I had previously had with the calendar returned 
In about ten minutes on here and thanks to lordofthemoon and chillibean my lovely new phone is now working perfectly - yay!
