Root I love my rom but I want to try another, have a few questions before I do it .

    Okay so if I make a nandroid of my current rom can I flash a new rom and if I dont like it can I just r recover this rom and have all my settings and aps just the way they were ? Is it really that simple ?

    Correct. Nandroid backup is a picture of the exact way your phone is right now. Settings, system files, apps, and messages are all saved exactly like they are now. Use Caulkins Format all zip after your backup and flash the rom of your choice. If you don't like it or have problems, reboot to recovery and restore your backup.

    Which Recovery do you have currently?

    I am using clockworkmod 2.6.0.1. So I should perform a backup first and then use Caulkins Format all zip and then flash the new rom and I should be good?

    Yes as long as you have the latest radios installed already, you should be good to go.

    los angeles
    it is a great way to make a complete wipe. simple to do.
    just flash the caulkin's zip then flash the rom in the same recovery session. works great for me.
    you can get it in my signature under roms and kernels
