Hey folks, I joined the forum because I want to learn more about Repairing androids, writing aps, and because I have a couple "projects" going.
I'm a big fan of older higher end phones. I ust can't understand why anyone would spend hundreds of $ on a new phone when you can get a phone like my Droid X2 for $30-40. It's specs are just fine for everything I do with my phone.
I also will not use an unrooted phone. The idea of owning a device that I don't have administrator privileges for just seems crazy to me.
Looking forward to learning a lot and helping where I can.

Welcome to Android Forums, @Key Lime! :)

I'm sure you will find more than a few of our members who share your feelings. I, myself, find it very hard to part with old tech, if it still works. If It doesn't work, I give it to my in-laws. ;)

    Welcome to Android Forums!

I buy older phones all the time. Sure, it's for personal budget reasons but I just can't justify paying $800 for a phone with a Fruit logo.:p

^^^ Bah! That's a crime if it was in the trash!

I've still got my original 2010 Jul-15 release date Droid X...used it regularly until mid last year (it's been gently retired but ready if needed :) ).

The battery cover was lost, AFAIK a contact prevents device from booting w/o. It was dismissed as "broken" $8 later back in business. I still use it as a WiFi phone and I love the Digital FM Radio. Hard to find that anymore. I use it almost daily. It's also my "Camcorder". <in the spirit of out-dated tech

Speaking of outdated, I still have one of these, ca. 1993.
