Day two with the Fascinate..over-all impression is luke-warm.

    1. Touch screen texting is going to take getting used to. I'm spending more time going back and correcting errors than actually using the phone. Is there a way to make the texting keyboard larger??

    2. Battery life obviously shorter than my old LG, but I understand why.

    3. I'm reading about the battery saving apps...are they actually any good or do they do more damage than good?

    4. I love the live wallpapers, very cool.

    5. Have had a couple of "force closes" pop up while downloading apps.

    6. Phone call quality is great, love how big and bright the screen is.

    7. Tried calling my bank this morning, and had to enter my account info after the dial pad had already dissappeared..I hit the dial pad key to bring it back and it froze the phone.

Now for stupid questions. What is a widget and how is it different from an app?

Does anyone recommend anything to put on the phone that you think I can't live without?

    Thanks so much,

    Ally

If there is, it will be in your keyboard options. Odds are that you'll need to look into another keyboard app if you're unhappy with stock.

There's no one-size fits all answer. Best practice is to determine your specific battery hogs (depends on your usage) and to address them. If the battery saving app utilizes strategies that aren't relevant to your particular usage then you won't see much, if any, benefit.

Widgets are on your home screen. A given app may include one or more widgets (or none).

Highly subjective. If you want some "must have" lists then check the apps subforum. We can blindly suggest apps but it does no good if they're not relevant to you.

    1. There are many different keyboards that you can try. Swype came with your phone...i think. Try that out.
I also recommend Swiftkey. Very good keyboard.

2 and 3. I like Juice Defender. some dont. Your mileage may vary

    4. They look good.. but hurt your battery life. I recommend going without them.

    6. right on ;)

A widget is almost like a live icon you put on your desktop.
For example, if you use a weather widget, it will refresh itself and keep updating the weather on it's own.
Without it, you'd have to open the app to see the weather.

Check out this like for cool apps: http://androidforums.com/android-applications/1183-favorite-app-so-far.html

It starts way back in 08, so i recommend skipping forward to get more current apps.

Day 3...OK, this is growing on me. I have a sick 8 year old and I spent the night sitting on the floor next to her bed. I read books downloaded from the Kindle app...looked up symptoms online, texted back and forth with various family members..now that it's not so new and scary, I'm really starting to get into it. Still takes me awhile to do anything, but I'm getting there.

If this is either your 1st android or your first touchscreen only there is an acclimation period for sure. Once you learn to use the phone its a pretty smooth operation.
