WOW!! That looks complicated! WAAAY beyond my ability...anything simple...like installing an app on each phone and away we go??

...I assume that if I DID do all that installation stuff that I could see the screen of a phone 40 miles away??

    I think you'd need a 40 mile usb cable...

(or you could get her to plug it into her computer, and then get a remote to her pc??)

If she has a webcam hooked up to her computer, she could point it at the phone so you could see what the screen looks like on your home computer via Skype or Google hangouts. No need to install an app on the phone in that case.

Any VNC program would do that. Server on your mom's phone, client on your phone or your computer. They have to be set up (the people on PortForward's Forum • Index page can help with that). but once it's set up, it's like you're sitting at her phone. 40 feet away, 40 miles away or halfway around the world makes no difference. She can use the phone while you're using it too. She just has to have a data connection - wifi or through the phone's data.

If you put vnc into Play store's search box you'll find plenty of servers and clients.

Team Viewer works on Samsung devices. She'd install on her device, you install on your pc.

Unless they changed the app, Team Viewer is only used as a client on the phone. First thing I thought of when I got my tech illiterate wife an Android tablet.

Still looks like that. Support the PC from the phone, but not the other way around.

It's an app called TV QuickSupport. Must be a Samsung handheld. Let's the PC support the handheld. I've used it on several occasions, but not in the past few months. I didn't check to see if they took it down.

There was some VNC app that let you view a phone but I can't remember what it was. Laggy as HELL
